Worried About Ruining Your Hair Patch While Bathing? Read This First
Most people who get their first hair system come home excited and then freeze the moment they need to take a bath. Do I remove it? Can I get it wet? What if the bond gives up halfway through the shower?
It is one of the most common things our customers ask us and honestly it makes complete sense because nobody really explains this part.
You spend all that time choosing the right hair patch, the right base, the right adhesive and then you are standing in front of the bathroom door wondering if a simple bath is going to ruin everything.
So let us clear this up right away. Showering with your hair system on is completely fine. You do not have to remove your hair patch or wig every single time you bathe. Plenty of people in India go through their daily shower routine with their hair system on and face no issues at all.
What does matter though is how you do it. The water temperature, the products you use, the way you handle the hair while it is wet, all of these small things add up. Get them right and your hair system stays clean, natural looking and well bonded for weeks. Get them wrong and you will slowly see the edges lifting and the base wearing down much sooner than it should.
We put this guide together keeping Indian beginners in mind. Our humidity, our hard water, our habit of washing hair a certain way since childhood, all of it plays a role. By the time you finish reading, you will know exactly how to wash your hair system in India the right way.

Pre-Shower Preparation
Before you even turn on the tap, grab a wide-tooth comb and gently work through your hair system. Start from the ends and slowly move up toward the base.
Take your time with any knots you find. Do not pull or force through them.
Wet hair sheds much faster than dry hair. Detangling your hair patch before every shower is honestly one of the easiest ways to protect it and make it last longer. One small step, big difference.
The Washing Process
Now that your hair is detangled, it is time to step in.
Keep the water lukewarm. Indian winters make it very tempting to turn that geyser all the way up but hot water loosens your bond and wears down the base much faster than you would expect.
Avoid standing directly under a high-pressure shower. Just let the water run gently over your hair from front to back.
For shampoo, always go with a sulfate-free one that suits hair systems and wigs. Take a small amount, mix it with a little water in your palm and work it through your hair gently from top to bottom. No scrubbing, no circular rubbing.
Your hair patch is not your natural hair. Rough handling while washing is one of the biggest reasons most beginners see shedding earlier than they should.
Once you are done with shampoo, wash your hair well with water until nothing is left behind. Any product sitting on your hair patch causes buildup, itching and dullness over time. Take that extra minute, it is worth it.
Now conditioner. Do not skip this step. Apply it from mid-length to the ends and leave it for two to three minutes before washing it out. Keep it away from the base or it will slowly break down the bond underneath.
Once you step out, spray a little leave-in conditioner on damp hair. It keeps your hair system soft, smooth and looking natural for days.

Post Shower Care
Do not rub your hair dry with a towel. Gently press and soak the water out using a microfiber towel or a soft cotton t-shirt.
If you have time, let your hair system air-dry naturally. It is the gentlest thing you can do for your hair patch and it genuinely adds to how long it lasts.
If you are running late, a blow dryer on the lowest heat setting works too. Just never skip a heat protectant spray before you do.
Once your hair is completely dry, fix any edges that may have been lifted, give it a gentle brush with a wig brush and style it however you like. Fresh, clean and ready to go.
